Jeffrey T Summers, M.D., P.A.
Jeffrey T Summers has been exclusively practicing pain management and spinal intervention since 1995. He currently holds board-certification in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. Dr Summers graduated from the University of Mississippi and attended medical school at University of Mississippi Medical College. He did an internship and residency in Anesthesiology at Brooke Army Medical Center, in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Summers enjoys having personal interactions with his patients and chose to study spine intervention over a less personal field of practice like operative anesthesiology. He completed a fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Texas Health Science Center, in San Antonio, Texas, and a second research fellowship at the Pain Relief Institute and Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in England.
Dr Summers has served on the Board of Directors of the International Spine Intervention Society and served as the President of the Society in 2014-2016. He has served and is currently serving on multiple committees for the North American Spine Society (NASS) and the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society (IPSIS). He continues to work as a consultant, advisor, or director for various insurance carriers, and has assisted in developing national and international guidelines for the treatment of spine disorders.
Dr Summers’ medical career specializes in disorders of the spine with spine-related pain and nerve injuries. He also specializes in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and works as part of an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary team approach that includes the specialties of neurology, neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. His primary treatment goal is the restoration of function through the management of pain and physical rehabilitation.
Dr Summers currently serves as a Master Level Instructor for the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society, where he travels to instruct physicians from all over the world in advanced interventional spine injections and techniques. National and international awards have included Becker’s ASC Review “70 Pain Management Physicians to Know,” The Robert McGuire Worker’s Compensation Compassionate Physician Award, and the 2023 IPSIS Richard Derby Distinguished Service Award.
